At the 1st APEC Ministerial Meeting on the Telecommunications and Information Industry (TELMIN) held in Seoul, Korea, APEC ministers agreed to advance the information infrastructure and establish the Asia Pacific Information Infrastructure (APII) in the Asia Pacific region.
At the 12th APEC TEL Working Group held in China, Korea and Japan jointly proposed the APII Test-bed project. |

| 1996 |
At the 1st APII Test-bed Forum held in Korea, participants joined efforts in establishing the APII Cooperation Center.
Approved at the 2nd TELMIN held in Gold Coast, Australia, the APII Cooperation Center was launched in Korea in October. |

| 1998 |
The first link between Korea and Japan (Korea-Japan APII Test-bed) was opened with 2Mbps.
APII Cooperation Center opened the APEC TEL WG website (www.apectelwg.org) to serve as the sole information platform for access to APEC TEL meeting documents and information by APEC TEL member economies.
The IT Human Resource Development Program (IT HRD Program) was first launched with short-term programs including the International Telecom Human Resource Training Program and the Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Training & Study Visit Program. Here, 29 countries with 93 trainees attended the Program (37 from APEC Member economies).

The link between Korea and Singapore (Korea-Singapore APII Test-bed) was opened (2Mbps) and Korea-Japan APII Test-bed was upgraded to 8Mbps.

| 2000 |
At the 3rd Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) held in Seoul, the European Commission, Singapore and Korea jointly proposed the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN) Project and it was adopted as one of the new ASEM projects.
The APEC TEL Website was operated with the APEC Central Fund of US$33,000.

| 2001 |
The link between Korea and the US (Korea-US APII Test-bed/KREONet2 Project) to STAR TAP (Science Technology and Research Transit Access Point) of the US NSF (National Science Foundation) from KOREN and KREONet2 (Korea Research Environment Open Network2) was opened (45Mbps).
KISDI (APII Cooperation Center) co-organized the 1st Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on TEIN in Seoul, Korea with European Commission and other ASEM members to reach a common understanding of TEIN among the experts from ASEM member countries.
TEIN was launched as the 2Mbps link between RENATER of France and KOREN of Korea.
The APEC TEL Website has been managed with the APEC Central Fund of US$33,000.

| 2002 |
KISDI (APII-CC) co-organized the 2nd EGM on TEIN in Brussels with the European Commission and other ASEM member countries aiming to reach a common understanding on the future plan for TEIN. TEIN was upgraded to 10Mbps.APIICC opened the TEIN website (www.transeurasia.org) to manage the outcomes of the TEIN project and to share them among ASEM member countries.
TEIN was upgraded to 10Mbps in March.

Co-organized the 2nd OECD Broadband Workshop in Seoul to discuss policy issues on broadband internet in June.
In September at ASEM 4, TEIN was quoted as the basis of a strong partnership between Asia and Europe. During the same period, RENATER, EC and KISDI had an EGM at EU in Brussels.
In October and November, the governments of Korea and Malaysia held the 1st and 2nd Korea-Malaysia Meeting respectively and discussed the TEIN Expansion Links to Southeast Asia.

In January, Korea-Singapore APII Testbed was upgraded to SCR 6Mbps with a possible value of PCR 12 Mbps from SCR 2Mbps/PCR 4Mbps.
A new 1Gbps APII link between Korea and Japan was established via the submarine optical-fiber cable system KJCN (Korea Japan Cable Network) in April.
In February at the 13th e-ASEAN Working Group (EAWG), TEIN was officially submitted to ASEAN member countries.
In July, Korea-US APII Test-bed/KREONet2 was upgraded to 155Mbps from 45Mbps, which is a link to STAR TAP of the US NSF from KOREN and KREONet2.
Co-hosted Advanced Network Conference (ANC) and APAN16 which provided discussions and insights about the future development of APII and TEIN in August.
Co-hosted the TEIN/APII/KOREN Symposium(25th and 26th August).
Korea and Malaysia joined to take the initiative in leading TEIN expansion links to Southeast Asia (SEA) region.
In September, total six projects were selected as the TEIN Research Projects to receive financial support from the government.
In October, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC)of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Education (MoE) of China agreed to make joint efforts for the launch of China-Korea link of minimum 45Mbps between two countries.
TEIN link (FR-KR) was upgraded to 45Mbps (PCR 34Mbps / SCR 17Mbps) on November 3, 2003.
At the 27th TEL, it was agreed that 5 sponsors would be sought for the maintenance of APEC TEL Website and in Dec., FMMC and SK Telecom became the official sponsors of the APEC TEL website.(Contract period: Dec. 10, 2003 ~ Dec. 9, 2004)

In January, the continuation of the current Korea-France Linkage was reconfirmed at the TEIN2 Information Day held at the European Commission Headquarter in Brussels. EU announced to commit a substantial amount of contribution for the continuity of TEIN Initiative until the end of 2007.
In May, Korea-Singapore APII Testbed was upgraded to SCR 8Mbps/PCR 12Mbps from SCR 6Mbps/PCR 12Mbps.
Korea-US APII Testbed/KREONet2 was also upgraded to 1.2Gbps from 155Mbps.
New partnership was made with Canada by peering with CA*NET4 on the basis of three party service agreement between KISDI-KISTI and CANARIE
Korea (KISDI) and China (CERNET) signed the MoU on the establishment of C-K Link on 21st May.
The APII KR-JP workshops were held in Hawaii (February), Japan (May) and Australia (July).
In May, TEIN Seminar and the 1st TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to prepare for the next phase of TEIN.
In July, the 2nd TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Cairns, Australia during the 18th APAN Meeting.
The link between Korea and China (Korea-China APII Testbed/KREONet2 was opened (310Mbps) in August.
Hosted 2004 Asian DHX (Digital Heritage Exchange) forum to share the experience of Asian countries and other continents (such as Europe and the United States) on digitalization of cultural heritage on 7th September.
Performed a demonstration of digital cultural heritage contents through HD (High Definition) video transmission over high-speed network infrastructure around the world in cooperation with ANF (Advanced Network Forum) and GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and technology) during the ITU Telecom Asia 2004 (6th September~11th September).

Performed a demonstration of digital cultural heritage contents through HD (High Definition) video transmission over high-speed network infrastructure around the world in cooperation with ANF (Advanced Network Forum) and GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and technology) during the ITU Telecom Asia 2004 (6th ~11th September).
In December, TEIN Korea-France link was upgraded to 155Mbps IPLC from 45Mbps ATM.
Also in December, via Korea-Japan APII, Korea successfully joined in TransPAC2 Project, a high-speed international Internet service connecting research and education networks in the Asia-Pacific region to those in the US. TransPAC2 is part of the NSF's International Research Network Connections (IRNC) program. |

| 2005 |
Based on the inter-governmental agreement, Korea-Singapore APII Testbed expires at the end of 2004, with commitment to the continuous collaborations in the future.
In January, the 4th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand during the 19th APAN Meeting.
In March, the 5th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Singapore.
In April, Dr. Inuk Chung was appointed as the Chair of APEC Telecommunications Working Group (TEL WG), at the 31st APEC TEL WG Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand.
In April, APII-CC joined in the TransPAC2 opening ceremony in an effort to provide fundamental network infrastructure to support international joint collaborations among researchers worldwide.
In April, APII-CC co-held the 9th Advanced Network Workshop with the partner institutes such as KISTI at Seoul National University where the 1st CJK Special Session was organized with the experts' participation from China, Japan and Korea.
In May, DANTE and APII-CC co-hosted the 6th TEIN2 Technical Committee in Seoul to discuss the details of TEIN2 launching plan, future cooperation, etc.
In June, Korea-US APII Testbed/KREONet2 expires with even more improved network environment of TransPAC2, GLORIAD, etc.
SK Telecom became the official sponsor of the APEC TEL website (Contract period: July 13, 2005 ~ July 12, 2006).
In July, the 7th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Tokyo, Japan, and the final TEIN2 Topology was agreed.
In September, APII-CC co-hosted APII Workshop 2005 with APII-TC, Japan at Grand Intercontinental Hotel, Seoul, where the researchers from CJK shared their research collaboration. Also, APII-CC hosted Asian Digital Heritage Exchange (DHX) Forum 2005, where over 80 participants from 8 countries discussed exchange of digitalized cultural heritage.
In September, APII-CC supported Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Korea in hosting the 32nd APEC TEL Meeting with its expertise in TEL activities.
On the occasion of APEC TEL 32, DHX was successfully demonstrated. To the music transmitted real-time by APII from NYU, US to the event venue of Seoul, Korean traditional dance was magnificently performed.
In September, the 8th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Hong Kong, China.
In October, APII-CC co-held the 10th Advanced Network Workshop with the partner institutes such as NCA at KISTI, where the C-K Joint Session was organized.
In November, Korea-Japan APII link was upgraded to 2Gbps from 1Gbps. |

In January, the 9th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Tokyo, Japan.
In January, TEIN2 Launching Ceremony was held in Tokyo, Japan during the 21st APAN meeting.
In January, the 1st APII (KR-JP) 10Gbps Upgrade Meeting was held in Tokyo, Japan.
In February, the 2nd APII (KR-JP) 10Gbps Upgrade Meeting was held in Seoul, Korea.
In April, the 3rd APII (KR-JP) 10Gbps Upgrade Meeting was held in Inchon, Korea.
In April, TEIN2 Special Session and TEIN2 Meeting for Demonstration and Promotion were held in Inchon, Korea during the 11th Advanced Network Workshop.
In April, KISDI, NCA, and DANTE signed together on the "Operational Agreement for TEIN2 Project between DANTE and KOREN".
In June, the 10th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting was held in Halong, Vietnam during the Preparatory Meeting for the ASEM ICT Ministerial Meeting.
In June, KRNET2006 was held in Seoul and APII-CC was participated in the IT Policy and Strategy session.
In July, APII Workshop 2006 was held in Singapore during the 22nd APAN meeting. During the APAN meeting the TEIN3 Task Force Team was formed under the APAN Strategy Committee.
In August, the 2nd China-Korea Joint Workshop was held in Beijing.
In August, the fist face-to-face TEIN3 Task Force Team meeting was held during the 2nd China-Korea Joint Workshop.
In September, the official TEIN2 Launch Event was held in helsingki, Finland during ASEM6 Summit.
In October, the 34th APEC TEL WG Meeting was held in Auckland, New Zealand.
In October, 11th TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting and the 1st TEIN2 NOC meeting were held in Hong Kong. The TEIN Organization Task Force Team was established under the TEIN2 Technical Committee.
In November, the 12th Advanced Network Workshop was held in Konkuk University, Seoul.
In November, the 1st ASEM ICT Ministerial Meeting and ASEM ICT SOM were held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
