APII US-KR
Korea-US APII Test-bed/KREONet2 started from a link between Korea and the US in 2001. Korea-US APII Test-bed/KREONet2 was opened as a 155Mbps link to STAR TAP(Science Technology and Research Transit Access Point) of US NSF (National Science Foundation) from KOREN (Korea advanced Research Network) and KREONet2 (Korea Research Environment Open Network2). Since then, Korea-US APII Test-bed/KREONet2 was upgraded to 1.2Gbps in May 2004 and the connecting point in US was transferred from STARTAP to StarLight. Also new partnership was made with Canada (CANARIE) by peering with CA*Net4. There are a growing number of connectivities between Korean research institutes and other labs worldwide through KR-US APII-Testbed/KREONET2 of gigabit capacity.
* Korea-US APII Test-bed/KREONet2 Project (since 2001)
- started as 45Mbps link to STAR TAP (Science Technology and Research Transit Access Point) of the US NSF (National Science Foundation) from KOREN and KREONet2 (Korea Research Environment Open Network2)
- Upgraded to 155Mbps in May 2003
- Upgraded to 1Gbps in May 2004 & changed the exchange point in US to StarLight from STARTAP
- Finished in June 2005 (KR-US research collaboration is still available via KR-JP APII and TransPAC2)
