Following the intergovernmental agreement on the launch of Korea-China research network in October 2003, Korea-China APII Testbed/KREONet2 was successfully established in August 2004 with 310Mbps. It is a joint project, which interconnects KOREN (Korea advanced Research Network), KREONET (Korea Research Environment Open Network) on the one hand with CERNET (China Education & Research Network), CSTNET (China Science & Technology Network). APII Cooperation Center and CERNET is mainly focused on providing the advanced network infrastructure for R&E users in both countries, while KREONET and CSTNET are on supercomputing, science technology database, etc.

APII Cooperation Center plans to expand the APII Testbed project with greater participation from the APEC member economies in the future contributing to advanced global connectivity. In addition, APII Test-beds are linked to EU's GEANT, the pan-European gigabit research network, forming the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN), which was created in December 2001

KR-CN link between KREONET and CSTNET was disconnected on August 2005 as GLORIAD Project, which also provides KR-CN link, has been started recently. Currently KR-CN APII link is operational with a capacity of 155Mbps between KOREN and CERNET.
