APII Joint Projects |
APII Testbeds serve as a research network among APEC member economies. Research collaborations going on via APII Testbeds cover next generation Internet mainly and also a variety of areas such as cultural, educational or medical ones. In Korea, for example, there are officially selected research projects as follows assisted by the government.
1. The Distance Learning System using Virtual Reality Technology for the Next Generation Internet
- HY Univ.(Korea) & Waseda Univ. (Japan)
2. SIP based VoIP Intelligent Service Development and Implementation
- Chonam Univ.(Korea) & CSIRO(Australia)
3. A Study on the Construction of the MPLS Testbed(L-bone) on KOREN and the Development of the MPLS Application Services
- LaoNet(Korea) & Univs in Korea
4. Applications of APII for High Energy Physics
- KyungBook Univ.(Korea) & KEK(Japan)
5. Multicast Network Monitoring Project over APII Testbed
- KAIST (Korea) & CRL (Japan)
6. IPv6 Based High Performance Multimedia Conferencing over the APII Testbed
- Chungnam Univ.(Korea), Nayang Tech. Univ.(Singapore) & ISIT(Japan)
7. Development of Distributed Technique and Methodology of International Collaboration for the Analysis of Artificial Heart Under APII-Testbed/STARTAP Circumstance
- KumOh Univ.(Korea), MIT (U.S.) & ICU (Korea)
Also, for Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN), ASEM Initiative connecting the regional research network of Europe with that of Asia, APII Testbed Project serves as the Asian research network.
In case of the year 2003, following the Request for Proposals (RfP) of international research collaborations using APII Test-beds, totally six projects are finally selected as follows:
Data Acquisition for Disaster Prevention, Distributed Data Access Technology, and its Applications Based on KOREN
Architectural Co-design Space
Integrated Browsing of Telemedicine over High Speed Network
A Study on Traffic Engineering for KOREN/APII Testbed
Building Infra-structure for Analysis and Distribution of Bio Data based on KOREN
