WG Description :
Video Conferencing WG is formed to provide the capabilities of advanced digital video streaming and conferencing using APII/TEIN testbed. The goals of the WG are to design and deploy high performance digital video services that take full advantage of the potential of high performance networks. Main Items for the WG are as follows:
- Research various options for delivering digital video over the high performance network.
- Develop digital video delivery systems that can support high-resolution video.
- Promote the deployment of teleconferencing/distant learning systems based on Access Grid and provide technical supports.
- Develop scalable version of multipoint video conferencing system and related protocols/applications.
- Collaborate on the development of HDTV delivery technology over domestic & international R&D networks
- Construct the HDTV-enabled advanced media distribution infrastructure by deploying the developed HDTV toolkit
- Share and promote the distribution of HDTV contents over the media distribution infrastructure
- Assist application and user communities to enable HDTV-supported collaboration

- Activities on monitoring improvement of AG nodes
- Activities on supporting medical tele-surgery and related meeting with stereo video and AG
- Activities on the establishment of Uncompressed HDTV system
- Activities on testing of MPEG2 HDTV system with China counterpart
- Activities on testing of high-quality stereo video transmission system
- Activities on testing of MEPG2 HD video with photographing, editing, and VoD web-service
